Active Marijuana Growing Facility Discovered during Monterey Park Death Investigation

LOS ANGELES (Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department)-Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing to assist Monterey Park Police Department with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man that was discovered Monday, March 21, 2016, at approximately 6:00 pm in the 200 block of south Lincoln Avenue, Monterey Park.

Detectives have learned that the murder occurred at a residence located in the 5500 block of Sultana Avenue in Temple City, where an active marijuana growing facility was also discovered.

Detectives have arrested Suspect Andy Chen, male Chinese, 09/24/1978, who is a resident of San Gabriel.  He was arrested on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the city of San Gabriel. Criminal charges against Suspect Andy Chen will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

The Victim has been identified as Min Gu, male Chinese, 02/26/1986. The Los Angeles County Department of the Coroner has revealed the victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Detectives believe the motive for the murder was a financial dispute.
