‘Science in the Park’ Family Event Arrives April 29 in Irvine

IRVINE- The John D. Cooper Archaeological and Paleontological Center is presenting “Science in the Park,” a family festival celebrating archaeology, paleontology, history, culture and science Saturday, April 29, at Irvine Regional Park.
The free 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. educational event features Orange County’s rich heritage of natural history, native animals and plants, local Native American culture, and opens the world of science to the community.
Activities include archaeological and paleontological demonstrations and exhibits, science experiments, environmental conservation, and a Junior Scientist Camp that features educational crafts and hands-on activities. Cal State Fullerton’s Geology Club, Chemistry and Biochemistry Club, Mathematics Club and Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary will participate, along with Cal State Fullerton’s volcano expert Valbone Memeti, assistant professor of geological sciences.
The Cooper Center, a partnership between Cal State Fullerton and OC Parks, is committed to the preservation, curation and management of the fossils and artifacts within the county for the purpose of scientific research, outreach and education.
