Father Pleads to Leaving Baby in Car while Getting Lap Dances at Strip Club

Los Angeles–A 26-year-old man pleaded no contest today to leaving his 9-month-old daughter inside a car while he visited a strip club, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer said Auwin Dargin of Van Nuys entered the plea to one felony count of child abuse.

Dargin was immediately sentenced to five years probation and 10 days in county jail. He also was ordered to complete 45 days of Caltrans service and 52 weeks of parenting classes.

On March 9, 2016, the defendant left his baby daughter in the car in the parking lot of the Synn Gentlemen’s Club on Sepulveda Boulevard for 43 minutes while visiting the club for lap dances at approximately 2 p.m., according to court testimony. The baby was sweating and crying when she was found in the car by employees of the club and neighboring business employees.

The good Samaritans rescued the child and confronted Dargin as he stepped outside of the club, the prosecutor said.  Los Angeles police arrested him as he was leaving.
