Covina, California—Bookmark Contest 2018, themed “Reading Takes You Everywhere”, came to a conclusion on September 22, with winners announced at an award ceremony in the City of Covina.
Over 200 students of different age groups from 37 cities in Los Angeles and Orange County submitted their designs, according to Jim Barry, Drawing, Painting, Silkscreen Art Director of Caltech Performing & Visual Arts.
Ashley Pei, Jason Liu and Alexis Gu respectively won the first, second and third place for intermediate and high school group; Irene Yitian Xue, Shizhen Andy Jin and Chang Li for the fifth and sixth grader group; Peng Yu Wang, Ella Chan and Emma Chen for the third and fourth grader group; and Melanie Zhang, Allison Zhao Gao and Stella Min Fang for the first and second grader group.
The contest was organized by the City of Covina Parks & Recreation Department and Library Services Division, in partnership with a local cultural and arts museum.
