The upcoming election is critical for our nation, our state and our communities.  US News Express, as an independent English and Chinese bilingual online news outlet, endorses the following qualified candidates based upon their views on key issues and our readers’ reviews and feedback.

Jeffrey Prang for Los Angeles County Assessor

Born in Detroit and raised in Warren, Michigan, Jeffrey Prang is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University with a B.A. in International Relations.  In 2004, Prang completed the Program for Senior Executives in Local and State Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Professionally, Jeffrey Prang is a State Board of Equalization licensed appraiser, an Executive Committee member of the California Assessors’ Association (CAA), and an active member of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and the Society of Auditor-Appraisers (SAA). Before his election as Assessor, Jeff Prang served as a member of the Executive Staff in the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor.

Jeffrey Prang was elected as the 27th Assessor for the County of Los Angeles in 2014.

Allen Wu for Walnut City Council

Allen Wu has been serving with Walnut Valley Water District (WVWD) since 2003.  During his tenure, he acquired new water resources to ensure 100% water supply, and ensured the best water quality.  As the Director of WVWD, Wu led water district to be an ethical, open, responsive, transparent, efficient and professional agency.

As a member of the City Council, Allen Wu will ensure the highest-level of public safety, upgrade the quality of community services, preserve community resources, and improve accessibility and traffic congestion.

Wu support a balanced budget with no tax increases.

Lee Sun for Irvine City Council

Lee Sun believes that maintaining public safety is a top priority for Irvine. Even though Irvine is one of the best in terms of crime statistics among similarly sized cities, much remain to be improved.

As a council member, Sun will strengthen the police department, re-align police department priorities and improve police-community cooperation. For projects in the city, he will oppose any project that has the potential of compromising the city’s public safety.

All residents have the right to live in decent, safe and affordable housing.  Sun supports an incentive-oriented program to increase affordable housing availability.

After years of rapid development, Irvine’s public schools are over-crowded and resources are highly strained.  According to Sun, Irvine needs to have better planning and build schools accordingly. Any new projects that further strain the school system without adequate consideration of school resources shall be rejected.
