LOS ANGELES—A former Jordan High School teacher has been charged with committing a lewd act with a 13-year-old girl, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.
Deputy District Attorney Maren Dermody said Mark Anthony Santo (dob 3/20/69) faces one count of lewd act upon a child under age of 14.
Santo pleaded not guilty to the charge today and is scheduled to return on June 30 in Department S18 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch. Case NA114416 was filed for warrant on May 15.
The defendant allegedly assaulted the family friend at his home in 2015, the prosecutor said.
Bail is set at $100,000. Santo faces a possible maximum sentence of eight years in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Long Beach Police Department.
