Industry Sheriff’s Station and Industry Sheriff’s Y.A.L to Host 2nd Etch & Prevent a Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Program

 The Free Etch & Prevent event in the City of Industry aims to deter thieves from stealing

catalytic converters and assist law enforcement agencies trace any recovered property to its owner

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. – The Industry Sheriff’s Station in partnership with the Industry Sheriff’s Youth Activities League, will host their 2nd Etch & Prevent, a Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Program, on Wednesday, July 14, from 8am to 12pm, due to the high level of interest from the community. During the free event, deputies from the Industry Sheriff’s Station will engrave a traceable number onto each participants vehicle’s catalytic converter, in an effort to deter theft and aid in the tracing and location of the catalytic converter should it become stolen.

The Industry Sheriff’s Station anticipates engraving 75 vehicles during the event. The Industry Sheriff’s Station and the Industry Sheriff’s Y.A.L will be hosting additional Etch and Prevent events in the coming months for members of the community that were not able to register.

Theft of catalytic converters have increasingly become more common across Los Angeles County, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department supports programs that deter thieves from stealing these expensive items.
