Silk Road American Forum Launched in Los Angeles

Los Angeles—Silk Road American Forum was officially launched in Los Angeles, and its first educational trade seminar was held today at Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.

The forum was initiated by KJC International, Inc. and US News Express, in partnership with the Port of Los Angeles Trade Connect Program.

“The purpose of this forum is to reflect on the historical maritime trade between China and the United States, explore China’s Belt and Road initiative and American involvement, and promote economic and cultural exchanges between American and Chinese people,” said Jennifer Liu, CEO of KJC International, Inc. and Publisher of US News Express.  “Trade and cultural exchange can positively change the world in a far-reaching way.  Silk Road American Forum is poised to serve as a platform to facilitate people to people exchanges.”

“I hope more professionals in the United States and China will come forward to join the research, so that a complete historical picture of the maritime Silk Road across the Pacific will be presented to the world,” said Mr. Jim MacLellan, Director of Trade Development, Port of Los Angeles, also an expert who is dedicated to the in-depth research on ancient maritime trade route between China and the west coast of North American, and has insightful perspective on trade and cultural exchanges across the Pacific.

Silk Road American Forum will host a large symposium on September 6, 2017.  Business leaders, academic elites, government officials from China, the United States, Panama and other Pacific Rim countries are expected to participate.  The educational trade seminar held today is a precursor to the upcoming event.

The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (or the Belt and Road) initiative is China’s development strategy and framework first unveiled in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping.  To further promote the initiative, Chinese government will host a summit forum next month in Beijing.

According to Mr. Liu Haiyan, Consul of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angles, more than 1200 representatives from 110 countries and international organizations will attend the upcoming summit forum.
