Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office Hiring Appraisers

Los Angeles — The Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office is hiring a new class of appraisers for business personal property. The application is posted now, and submissions open February 25. These positions are highly competitive and applications will be cut off after 1,500 applicants. If you or someone you know is interested, make sure to have the application ready to submit right when it opens.
Those hired receive a year of paid classroom and on-the-job training to provide them with the skills necessary for this specialized career. Appraisers determine the fair market value of property, which serves as the foundation of the property tax system, and which this year will provide nearly $17 billion in vital funding for schools and local government services in LA County.
The only requirements to apply are a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with completion of six (6) semester units or equivalent quarter units of accounting courses.
The appraiser position, like many County jobs, provides generous benefits and retirement plans, as well as union representation and career stability.
